Gifts of Christmas

The preschool classes watched a movie called "Timmy's Gift". This helped us focus on the true meaning of Christmas. In the spirit of giving, the kids each made a special gift to give to their parents.

Red Day

Merry Christmas! The celebration of Jesus' birth begins with a wonderful story of God's love for us. Each child received a candy cane as we shared the message from the book (The Candy Cane). Our holiday week continued with red day and lots of talk about Christmas morning and wishes for presents.

It's a brand new month.  As the crisp November air blows in, our thoughts turn to the holidays and what we are thankful for in our lives. We celebrated Brown Day as we learned songs about giving thanks.

Police visit

On Tuesday and Wednesday we were visited by Sunset Hills Police Officers! They taught us about safety issues including avoiding strangers, crossing streets safely and calling 911 when true emergencies arise. We also learned many tips for Halloween safety.  The kids were able to get inside a real patrol car! We continued the safety lesson in the classrooms by utilizing the "Eddie Eagle" video on gun protection.  In addition to the excitement of the police visit, we  introduced the children to the new Learn Pads! They enjoyed trying various apps and practicing the number "7" on the tablets. The letter of the week was "C" for First Year Students and "F" for PreK.

Orange Day

As you can see in the picture, we highlighted the color Orange at the end of the week. We wore orange clothes, we talked about what things are orange, and used orange in our crafts. Pre-K kids worked on the letter E and 1st year kids learned the letter B. All classes studied the number Six and we continued our Music lessons. In Religion we heard that it is good to have fun times through Christ. Picture Day was at the beginning of the week - proofs should arrive by the end of next week.

Music Time

This week we started our music sessions with Miss Janelle. We had fun singing and learning new songs.  In Religion we talked about treating others with kindness and how we would like to be treated. The 1st Year classes learned about shapes and made a shape book.  We started on the alphabet, of course with the letter "A"!  With numbers we have moved on to the number Five.  We also made a fall tree. The Pre-K children are also learning the number Five and are up to the letter "D".  They painted apples at the easel and made scarecrows and owls.

This week both classes had their first day of cooking!  We made Applesauce Crunch because of all the apples in autumn. We also learned about the number 4. The 1st year preschoolers worked on circles and learned in religion how each child is special. God loves your kids and so do we! The Pre-K kids brought their favorite things from home for "Show-n-Tell" and also concentrated on the letter "C".
Cookie Dough Fundraiser information went home this week and is due back October 14th.

Bbbusy Week!

The week started off with a visit from the Mehlville Fire Department.  They showed us all of their equipment and how they use it.  They also talked about when and how to call 911 in an emergency.  Lights and sirens were going as they left!  During Chapel we talked about how Jesus is the "key" to heaven. We worked on the number three. Pre-K moved on to the letter Bb.  We ended the week by painting whales and sharks for "Blue Day."

We are in full swing!

The Pre-K kids started the letter "A" this week and it was "Awesome"! Both the first year and Pre-K classes learned the number 2 in this "2nd" week of school.  We also talked about how the bible can be used to learn about God's word. Additional discussions were held about what a great county we live in.

Our First Week at Resurrection

Our #1 First Year kids were so excited about school! We practiced the number 1 along with maze fun, tadpoles and frogs! The children and teachers are looking forward to "Show and Tell" in the next few weeks. Check your classroom's calendar for the exact date (varies by classroom).

The PreK classes had a great first week of school as well! It was a lot of fun to reconnect with old friends and make some new ones too. We made magnets to hold our art work and colored big apples. Next week we will start on writing the alphabet.
